Take me back to the times of Arthur
And of Merlin and the Sword in the Stone
To the time of Bards chanting tales to chill your bones
Take me back to the Celts of old
Where the music ran deep and touched your soul
Take me back to the time of Knights
Where words had meaning
And mystery ruled the night
Take me back to the days of Yore
Beyond the entitlement of this world
Back to when the Earth was raw
And hero’s took up adventure’s call
To slay the dragon or questing beast
To find the Holy Grail or join in a feast
To fear the gods on Samhain night
To feel your love tremble in Beltane’s firelight
To simple times when crops were grown
And a Man reaps just what he has sown
Take me back to the time of Kings
When Minstrels played harps and were paid to sing
But should we glorify the deeds of old
Or live for the future as our own tale unfolds
Will others yearn for this day and age
Will I be considered a prophet or sage
Take me back, yes take me back, my heart it yearns
Take me back until I learn, the lessons of a life well earned
